 ROBERT W. MAHONEY NOMINATED FOR ELECTION
 TO THE TIMKEN COMPANY BOARD OF DIRECTORS
 CANTON, Ohio , Feb. 7 /PRNewswire/ -- Robert W. Mahoney was nominated for election to the Board of Directors of The Timken Company (NYSE: TKR) at its meeting today. Shareholders will be asked to vote on his election at the company's Annual Meeting of Shareholders on April 21, 1992. If elected, his term would expire at the 1993 annual meeting.
 Mahoney, 55, is chairman of the board and chief executive officer of Diebold, Incorporated (NYSE: DBD), a position he has held since 1988. He joined Diebold in 1982 as senior vice president of its electronics products groups and was named executive vice president and chief operating officer in 1983. He was elected president and chief operating officer in 1984 and president and chief executive officer in 1985. He was named a director in 1983.
 Prior to joining Diebold, Mahoney was president of NCR Canada Limited. He previously held management positions with NCR, including assistant vice president of its financial systems division, director of electronic data processing sales and southeastern regional director of the financial systems division. He joined NCR in 1961.
 A native of New York City, he holds a bachelor of science degree from Villanova University and a master of business administration degree from Roosevelt University. He served in the United States Navy and retired with the rank of lieutenant commander.
 He is a member of the board of trustees of Timken Mercy Medical Center, Mount Union College, Ohio Foundation of Independent Colleges, Canton Symphony Orchestra and the Professional Football Hall of Fame. He is a member of the Stark Development Board, The University of Akron's Center for Economic Education Advisory Committee, the Executive Advisory Council of Junior Achievement of Stark County and the Chamber of Commerce Leadership Canton Advisory Board.
