 ROBERT W. D'ORNELLAS APPOINTED SENIOR VICE PRESIDENT
 OF MARKETING AT DEL MONTE FOODS
 SAN FRANCISCO, April 20 /PRNewswire/ -- Del Monte Foods announced today the appointment of Robert W. D'Ornellas to the position of senior vice president of marketing. D'Ornellas will start his new position immediately.
 D'Ornellas, 42, will assume responsibility for marketing the Del Monte brand product lines and will be a member of the company's senior management operating committee. He replaces George W. Pace who left the company.
 According to A. Ewan Macdonald, president and CEO, "Bob D'Ornellas brings to Del Monte Foods a wealth of experience. His knowledge of the food industry is extensive and his prior accomplishments speak for themselves."
 D'Ornellas' career in marketing began in 1974 at General Foods- Canada with assignments on Sanka and Maxwell House. In 1977 he transferred to the General Foods headquarters in White Plains, N.Y. where he worked on Kool Aid and Tang. He moved to Beatrice/Hunt- Wesson in Fullerton, Calif. in 1980 where he held a number of positions ranging from marketing manager, Wesson Oil to senior director of marketing, Oil and Tomato Products. In 1986 he assumed the title of vice president, Consumer Marketing, a position he held until his departure in 1991. Since his departure from Hunt-Wesson, D'Ornellas has been executive vice president of marketing at G. Heileman Brewing Company Inc. in Rosemont, Ill.
 D'Ornellas graduated from the University of Western Ontario in 1972 and obtained his M.B.A. from that university in 1974. He is married and has two children.
 D'Ornellas is delighted at the prospect of joining Del Monte Foods and said, "The Del Monte brand is one of the greatest franchises in the food industry. I'm pleased to be joining a management team that is clearly dedicated to making exciting things happen at Del Monte Foods."
 Del Monte Foods is a privately held company based in San Francisco which markets processed fruit and vegetable products. Sales in FY 1991 exceeded $1.4 billion.
