 ROBERT JAUNICH II ELECTED A DIRECTOR OF CONSOLIDATED FREIGHTWAYS
 PALO ALTO, Calif., July 28 /PRNewswire/ -- The board of directors of Consolidated Freightways Inc. (NYSE: CNF) has elected Robert Jaunich II as a member of the board.
 Jaunich is managing director and a member of the board of directors of San Francisco-based Bechtel Investments Inc. and Sequoia Ventures Inc.
 "Bob Jaunich is a welcome addition to the CF Board of Directors," said Chairman Raymond F. O'Brien. "His investment and financial management experience are a valuable resource for the CF company and its shareholders."
 Jaunich, 52, has been with Bechtel Investments Inc. and Sequoia Ventures Inc. since 1991. He was previously executive vice president of Jacobs Suchard AG, the Switzerland-based chocolate, sugar and coffee company, and is the former president of Osborne Computer Corp. and Sara Lee Corp.
 He holds a bachelor's degree from Wesleyan University, Middletown, Conn.; and an M.B.A. from the Wharton Graduate School at the University of Pennsylvania.
 He also serves on the boards of Brach Van Houten Holding Inc., a worldwide confectionery company; Nabob Foods, a Canadian roast coffee firm; and is chairman of Crown Pacific Ltd., a Pacific Northwest timber company.
 The addition of Jaunich to the CF board increases its membership from 13 to 14.
 Consolidated Freightways Inc. is a diversified freight transportation company with businesses in long-haul and regional next-day trucking, air freight, intermodal rail and ocean shipping, customs brokerage and logistics management services.
