ROBERT EPSTEIN, 67, JOURNALIST, COLLEGE LECTURER.Byline: Stacy Brown Daily News Staff Writer Robert Aaron Epstein, a longtime newspaper journalist who held executive positions at the Herald Examiner and the Los Angeles Times Los Angeles Times Morning daily newspaper. Established in 1881, it was purchased and incorporated in 1884 by Harrison Gray Otis (1837–1917) under The Times-Mirror Co. (the hyphen was later dropped from the name). , died Thursday after a brief bout with cancer, family members said. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Jan. 19 for Epstein at the Stephen S. Epstein, who lived in Sherman Oaks until 1992, was 67 when he died at home in Carlsbad, Calif., his son Matthew said. In 1977, he moved to the Los Angeles Times, where he was executive arts editor of the Calendar section and later became a columnist.
