ROBERT A. FEIN NAMED VICE PRESIDENT AND CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICER FOR
 PERSEPTIVE BIOSYSTEMS
 CAMBRIDGE, Mass., July 16 /PRNewswire/ -- Robert A. Fein has been named vice president and chief financial officer for PerSeptive Biosystems, Inc. (NASDAQ: PBIO), it was announced today by Noubar B. Afeyan, Ph.D. the company's president and chief executive officer.
 Robert Fein joins PerSeptive Biosystems from Thermo Electron Corporation (NYSE: TMO), where he had been director, corporate strategy with responsibility for new ventures business planning and the financial management of new business acquisitions. Fein also served as manager, special products (1988-1990), and deputy general counsel. He joined Thermo in 1988 as associate general counsel. Previously, Fein was an associate in the Boston law firm Testa, Hurwitz & Thibeault. He began his career as an associate at Powers & Hall, Boston. Fein is a graduate of Harvard Law School, and received his B.A. degree from Yale University. He is co-author of "Reporting the Campaign: The Journalist's Perspective," (Lexington Books, 1984).
 PerSeptive Biosystems designs, manufactures and markets proprietary products and systems for the purification and analysis of biomolecules. These bioseparations products are designed to reduce significantly the time and cost required for the development and manufacture of biopharmaceuticals. The company's current and planned products for the purification and analysis for biomolecules are based on three interrelated core technologies: Perfusion Chromatography(R), ImmunoDetection(tm) and Rational Surface Design(tm).
