The u.s. justice department categorizes the crime of carjacking as a "completed or attempted Robbery of a motor vehicle by a stranger
 a short time later across town in Canyon Country.

The robbers approached a man at gunpoint and demanded his money outside the Hampton Inn at 25259 The Old Road. That attempt failed, but 20 minutes later a man reported he was the victim of a carjacking.

. ``They did one where they were unsuccessful and went to the other side of town and tried again.''

Officials conducted a brief search for the duo but were unable to located the robbers, sheriff's officials said.

At the second location at the 18700 block of Vista Del Cannon, officials said that the two men approached a man, pointed a gun at him as he removed items from his vehicle and ordered him to give them his keys.

``It appears that they may be the same subjects,'' Oliva said.

The two men left the Canyon Country address driving westbound from the location and out of view.
