The 18-year-old from Canyon Country said he takes no special precautions with his black iPod, which holds about 3,000 songs -- with capacity for 2,000 more.

Two men in Santa Clarita were robbed Nov.26 of their iPods, both walking from bus stops. One of the thefts was near the Valencia Town Center, the other in Canyon Country's Shadow Pines area.

Sheriff's deputies, en route to the second call, spotted a pair matching the descriptions in both thefts and arrested 20-year-old Demetrius Higgins of San Bernardino San Bernardino, city, United States

The thefts mirror a nationwide trend of stolen iPods and mobile phones, small and valuable items easy to grab from unsuspecting victims.

Geraldine Robianes, a 19-year-old College of the Canyons student from Saugus, walked from the student center with her iPod in one hand, mobile phone in the other -- about $300 worth of gadgets.
