ROBBERS ESCAPE, LEAVE CASH IN CAR.

, sheriff's officials said Wednesday.

Deputies aided by a helicopter crew and a police dog searched unsuccessfully for the robbers for three hours Tuesday night through a neighborhood west of Sierra Highway Sierra Highway is a road in Southern California, United States. It runs from Tunnel Station near the north limit of the City of Los Angeles, where it intersects with San Fernando Road and Foothill Boulevard, as well as Interstate 5, and continues north to Mojave, mostly paralleling  near Avenue J-6, where the compact car was found in an alley.

An undisclosed amount of cash was found scattered throughout the car's interior.

The robbers - one wearing a red ski mask, the other in a purple ski mask - carried a handgun and a rifle into the Edwards Federal Credit Union on 10th Street West at Avenue J-4 shortly before 6 p.m. Tuesday.

The car, which had been reported stolen from Lancaster, was found in an alley west of Sierra Highway between Avenue J-4 and Avenue J-6.
