ROBBERS CARRY OUT 2ND HEIST.

WESTLAKE VILLAGE -- The same men who posed as security guards while robbing a Sun Valley bank earlier this week are believed to have held up a Santa Barbara Santa Barbara (săn'tə bär`brə, –bərə), city (1990 pop. 85,571), seat of Santa Barbara co., S Calif., on the Pacific Ocean; inc. 1850.  Bank and Trust branch Thursday, authorities said.

In the latest bank robbery, the men stormed into the Westlake Village branch and ordered the customers to lie on the floor. Two of the robbers jumped over the counter and took an undisclosed amount of money from the vault, police said.

The car left the freeway at the Fallbrook Avenue exit in Woodland Hills, and deputies pursued it on surface streets. But because of heavy traffic and to avoid endangering the public, deputies slowed down and the robbers got away. Their car was eventually found abandoned in the area.

At least two of the robbers are then believed to have stolen a gardener's truck to get away and another is believed to have fled on foot.

Police said the man, whose name was not immediately released, handed a note to a teller before escaping in a car with an undetermined amount of money. A description of the vehicle led police to the suspect, said Los Angeles police Detective Paul Coulter.
