ROBBERIES SEE SHARP DECLINE IN A.V. AREA.

The Antelope Valley

``It's always good to see a decrease,'' said Lt. Dave Collin of the Palmdale sheriff's station. ``But we're not going to be satisfied. We want all our criminal activity to go way down.''

Pridgen and two younger accomplices, who earlier pleaded guilty to the same charges, will be sentenced next month. ``We're convinced that the type of programs we use in our PAC areas are the ones that are most successful,'' Collin said. ``Quality-of-life issues is the way to go.''

The community-based policing programs involve sheriff's deputies working with residents in a concentrated area to reduce crime.

Palmdale sheriff's station officials and Mayor Jim Ledford will answer residents' questions about crime at televised Town Hall meeting from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Monday at the Palmdale City Council Chambers at 708 East Palmdale Blvd.
