ROBBER INSISTS HE'S INNOCENT, GETS 15 YEARS.

Authorities said Robinet and Timmons stormed the Wells Fargo Bank branch at 3965 E. Thousand Oaks Blvd. at 10:30 a.m. Feb. 23 and ordered employees and customers to the floor. While Timmons stood guard with a .30-caliber rifle, Robinet looted the bank's main vault, authorities said.

During the robbery, when employees couldn't get the money the bandits demanded, Robinet pistol-whipped a teller, leaving a cut that required four stitches to close.

With Johnson at the wheel, the robbers then led police on a high-speed chase in heavy rain before they were stopped on the Ventura Freeway at Seaward Avenue in Ventura, after running over a spike strip that California Highway Patrol officers placed on the road.

Robinet was arrested after a brief foot chase, and authorities found $33,500 on him.
