The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department (LASD) is a local law enforcement agency that serves Los Angeles County, California.
 offered Monday to motorists as a low pressure weather system moves through the area, dumping inches of rain and causing slippery roads.

``Motorists don't adjust their speeds, resulting in people spinning out and causing minor collisions,'' said Sgt. Andrew Hernandez of the California Highway Patrol.

More than an inch fell in the Santa Clarita Valley The Santa Clarita Valley is the valley of the Santa Clara River in Southern California. It stretches through Los Angeles County and Ventura County. Its main population center is the city of Santa Clarita. The valley was part of the 48,612-acre (19,672.  since Sunday afternoon, National Weather Service officials said Monday.

A series of crashes plagued the Antelope Valley Freeway The Antelope Valley Freeway is a freeway in Los Angeles and Kern counties in southern California. It is signed as California State Highway 14 along its length. It connects Greater Los Angeles to the rapidly developing Antelope Valley.  on Monday morning, including one involving a semitractor trailer that slid down an embankment, authorities said.

The crash occurred at 10:30 a.m. near the Golden Valley Road exit, snarling snarl 1

 slow-lane traffic for hours, officials said.

The crash was among 14 reported in that portion of the freeway between 10 and 10:30 a.m. Monday, said California Highway Patrol Officer Charles Blair.

In all, 28 crashes were reported on Santa Clarita streets and freeways through Monday afternoon, officials said.

Weather officials said another storm was expected to move in Monday night, bringing more showers and possibly thunderstorms thunderstorms
