Traffic fatalities in Los Angeles Los Angeles (lôs ăn`jələs, lŏs, ăn`jəlēz'), city (1990 pop. 3,485,398), seat of Los Angeles co., S Calif.; inc. 1850.  County dropped dramatically during the Christmas holiday, but officers were remaining vigilant with New Year's just around the corner.

Last year during the same period, 11 people were killed in the county and 322 people were arrested for DUI.

Police were hoping to continue the trend through next week, urging motorists to drive safely during the New Year's holiday.

``Thankfully we're having a much safer holiday this year than last year, but it's not over yet. We have a week to go,'' said LAPD 1. LAPD - Link Access Procedure on the D channel.

The California Highway Patrol was investigating the only Los Angeles County fatality, in Santa Clarita, that left one dead and two others injured, including the suspect.

Police say driver Travis Bibeau, 20, of Valencia crashed his vehicle into another car on Bouquet Canyon Road south of Vazquez Canyon Road at 1:47 a.m.

The two-car collision left an unidentified driver dead and the passenger in the suspect's car seriously injured. Both the woman and Bibeau were airlifted to local hospitals.

 at 2:44 p.m. and the freeway was reopened an hour later. No serious injuries were reported.

In Los Angeles, police were investigating two unusual crashes in which motorists in two separate incidents plowed into parked cars.

Police say a vehicle driven by a man crashed into 10 cars in the span of three separate police divisions along Normandie Avenue just before midnight. Only one person complained of injuries, and the motorist was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence. He was not immediately identified.

In another unrelated incident, a motorist crashed into 14 parked cars along Franklin Avenue east of Vista Street in Hollywood.

CHP officials urged motorists to have a safe holiday.

``Whatever you do, make it home,'' said CHP Officer Vince Ramirez. ``If you're going to drink, definitely do not drive.
