Major road construction information for Lane County, the cities of Eugene and Springfield, and the state Department of Transportation for the week of Aug. 26. Schedule is subject to change due to weather delays.

EUGENE

Adams Street at Cheshire Street/Cedar Street at Clark Street: Be prepared to encounter construction vehicles and workers.

East Bank Bike Path: The East Bank Bike Path will be closed in the Delta Ponds area through September.

North Bank Path: Watch for construction workers and equipment on the path as they continue to install railing and perform cleanup activities.

Garden Way Path: The path will be closed from Garden Way to the Canoe Canal in Alton Baker Park Alton Baker Park is located in Eugene, Oregon, United States, near Autzen Stadium. It features duck ponds, bicycle trails, and a dog park, and directly touches the Ferry Street Bridge.  for the contractor to begin resurfacing the path at the north and south ends. Path will be under construction until late September.

West 18th Avenue from Bailey Hill Road to City View Street: Watch for construction equipment traffic, lane closures and lane shifts. Expect delays.

East 18th Avenue from Agate to Hilyard streets: Watch for construction equipment traffic, lane closures and lane shifts. Expect delays. On-street parking will be prohibited pro·hib·it

Courthouse District Transportation Improvements Phase 2: Hilyard Street between Broadway and East Eighth Avenue, and East Eighth Avenue between Ferry and Hilyard streets will be closed.

SPRINGFIELD

Olympic Street/Mohawk Boulevard/21st Street: Expect traffic control changes and delays this week as the city's contractors perform slurry seal, traffic signal changes and other work associated with pedestrian crossing improvements. Expect single-lane closures eastbound east·bound

On Thursday, Olympic Street will be completely closed from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., between Mohawk Boulevard and 21st Street for slurry seal application. Please use alternate routes An official alternate route is a bannered highway that provides an alternate alignment for a highway. Originally, the term for these routes was "optional"; but in 1959, the designation became alternate.  and obey signs and flaggers. Businesses along Olympic can be accessed via shared driveways from Mohawk Boulevard, 21st Street and 18th Street. During this closure, 18th Street will remain open through the intersection with Olympic Street.

Harlow Road at Hartman Lane: The right lane of westbound Harlow Road near the Hartman Lane intersection may be closed at various times through the week between 7 a.m. and 3 p.m. The contractor will be constructing the Harlow Road sewer SEWER. Properly a trench artificially made for the purpose of carrying water into the sea, river, or some other place of reception. Public sewers are, in general, made at the public expense. Crabb, R. P. In addition, the contractor is repairing pavement following construction of the sewer pipes on Hartman Lane. This will require complete closures of Hartman Lane, a block at a time, for several days at a time. The road will be open to traffic outside of normal work hours but will be closed to all traffic between 7 a.m. and 6 p.m., Monday through Friday. Construction will proceed south on Hartman Lane from Harlow Road, then west on Darlene Lane and south on Don Street. This phase of work is expected to be completed by Thursday.

South 42nd Street - Main Street to Mt. Vernon Road: South 42nd Street is closed from Main Street to Mt. Vernon Road for construction of new concrete street and sidewalks. The primary detour route is South 32nd Street. Local access is available to residents from Main Street to 300 feet south of Daisy Street.

Fourth Street and B Street: B Street is closed between Fourth Street and Pioneer Parkway East, and Fourth Street is closed between A and B streets. The parking lane of Pioneer Parkway East is closed between A and B streets. Sidewalks are closed between A and B streets on the west side of Fourth Street and on the east side of Pioneer Parkway East. The closures will continue for the duration of construction (through 2009).

Bob Straub Parkway/South 57th Street, Mt. Vernon Road and Jasper Road: Expect construction traffic and minimal delays at intersection of above streets and the new Bob Straub Parkway. Construction traffic will be crossing Mt. Vernon and Jasper Road. Traffic will be controlled by flaggers.

COTTAGE GROVE Cottage Grove, village (1990 pop. 22,935), Washington co., SE Minn., near the St. Croix River; inc. 1965. There is farming (cattle, sheep, corn, and soybeans) and manufacturing (chemicals and machinery).  

Row River Road: At Milepost 16.64, expect intermittent delays and a one-lane detour around road construction in preparation for a new bridge.

Gowdyville Road: The county will be doing culvert work at Milepost 1.1 on Monday. Expect one-lane traffic and 10-minute delays.

CRESWELL AREA

ELMIRA

Warthern Road/Territorial Highway to Sheffler Road: Expect intermittent delays for driveway paving and placement of shoulder rock.

OTHER AREAS

Lane closures are planned on Belt Line Road near River Road all week. Work will take place during the day on the shoulders at all locations. Motorists should watch for slowing traffic and trucks entering and exiting the highway.

Lane County will be chip-sealing or fog-sealing the following roads. Expect one-lane traffic and 10-minute delays. Seek alternative routes of travel.

Monday: High Pass Road, Milepost 0 to 4.08; Cory Road, Milepost 0 to 1.68.

Tuesday: Hamm Road, Milepost 4.35 to 6.9; Mahr Road, Milepost 0 to 0.46.

Wednesday: Coleman Road, Milepost 0 to 0.9; Herman Road, Milepost 0 to 1.93; Wilkins Road, Milepost 0 to 1.61.

Thursday: Bernhardt Heights Road, Milepost 0 to 1.25.

 I-5 will be closed for four days as the contractor rebuilds the ramp and performs other activities in preparation for moving all northbound traffic onto the newly completed I-5 bridge over Game Farm Road.

Motorists should be prepared for slowing or stopped traffic. Daytime activities include asphalt paving and bridge construction. Traffic slowdowns are also occurring as motorists view the numerous work activities being performed.

 lane closures. The Highway 58 to I-5 southbound on-ramp is closed for the summer. Signs direct traffic to use Cloverdale Road or the I-5 ramp to Franklin Boulevard. Highway 58 eastbound under I-5 is reduced to one lane. Watch for crews and construction equipment.

The McKenzie River is a tributary of the Willamette River, 86 miles (138 km) long, in northwestern Oregon in the United States. It drains part of the Cascade Range east of Eugene into the southernmost end of the Willamette Valley.
 and McKenzie View Drive: Watch for intermittent flagging on McKenzie View Drive with possible 15-minute delays. Watch for construction crews and equipment along the roadway.

McKenzie River users: Watch for crews working along the north bank of the river as you approach Interstate 5 and Armitage Park.

HIGHWAY 58

Goshen to Oakridge: This project will replace or repair five bridges along Highway 58 between Goshen and Oakridge. Two-lane traffic will be maintained between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. seven days a week. One-lane conditions are possible for activities required to build detour and diversion roadways and bridges. For the week of Aug. 27, the contractor's activities include:

Willamette River Willamette River

River, northwestern Oregon, U.S. It flows north for 300 mi (485 km) into the Columbia River near Portland. Oregon's most populous cities are in its valley. The Fremont Bridge, a steel arch with a main span of 1,225 ft (373 m), crosses the river at Portland.
 Relief Opening at Milepost 2.7: Construction activity on the north side of the highway. Watch for flaggers, equipment and work crews. Expect a traffic detour change as early as Friday. Traffic will be detoured onto the north side of the roadway.

Union Pacific Railroad Union Pacific Railroad, transportation company chartered (1862) by Congress to build part of the nation's first transcontinental railroad line. Under terms of the Pacific Railroads Act, the Union Pacific was authorized to build a line westward from Omaha, Nebr.  Bridge at Milepost 8.1: Construction activity is underway on the north side of the highway in this area. Watch for construction vehicles entering and leaving the roadway.

Lost Creek Bridge The Lost Creek Bridge is a covered bridge located near Lake Creek, Oregon, United States. The bridge is about 11.89 meters (39 feet) long, possibly making it the shortest covered bridge in Oregon.  at Milepost 9.51: Construction activity on the north side of the detour. Watch for construction vehicles entering and leaving the roadway.

Private logging road (Oakridge) at Milepost 37.1: Construction activity on the south side of the roadway. Watch for construction vehicles entering and leaving the roadway.

HIGHWAY 36

Lingo Slough Slough (slou), city (1991 pop. 106,341) and borough, central England. After World War I, the residential city and its outlying area underwent rapid industrial development, owing in part to its proximity to London.  Bridge: This project will replace the existing bridge over Lingo Slough east of Cheshire on Highway 36. Expect one-lane traffic, a temporary traffic signal, reduced width between barriers, slowing traffic and trucks entering and exiting the highway. During some construction activities, traffic will be controlled by flaggers. The project is scheduled to be completed by December.

Oregon Avenue: I-5 overpass (Creswell) and Hill Creek Bridge: Work continues on the Oregon Avenue I-5 bridge this week. Drivers should expect a traffic shift from the south to the north side of the bridge. Watch for flaggers directing traffic.

HIGHWAY 99W

Miller Creek Bridge: This project includes replacement of the existing bridge over Miller Creek on Highway 99 just south of Monroe. Expect one-lane traffic, a temporary traffic signal, reduced width between barriers, slowing traffic and trucks entering and exiting the highway.

HIGHWAY 126

: This project will install rumble-type fog lines on both sides of the highway over an 8.5-mile section. Expect flaggers and 20-minute delays. The work is scheduled to be completed by Aug. 31.
