ROAD CLOSURES SET NEXT WEEK.

VALENCIA - Drivers should prepare for delays caused by freeway closures over the next week as construction continues on the $24 million Golden State Freeway/Highway 126 interchange improvements.

There will be no closures Wednesday, in observance of the Cesar Chavez Day State holiday in California observed on March 31. Cesar Chavez's Birthday. Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger suspended observance of the holiday in 2004 and 2005 to save money during the aftermath of the power crises. See also

 Interstate 5 from Hasley Canyon Road to Rye Canyon Road, the southbound I-5 connector to westbound State Route 126 and the Hasley Canyon Road on-ramp to the southbound I-5 will be closed from 11 p.m. to 6 a.m. Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday.

 lane and one westbound lane of Highway 126 from I-5 to Castaic Junction and both eastbound Highway 126 connectors to the north- and southbound I-5 will be closed from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday.

Closures are weather-permitting and subject to change. Signs and detours will be posted to assist motorists. Motorists are cautioned that traffic fines are doubled in freeway work zones.
