RMA, regulators discuss scrap tires.


The Rubber Manufacturers Association and the Nebraska Department of Environmental Quality will jointly host the 2nd Heartlands Regional Tire Management Conference, June 2-4, at the Doubletree Hotel in Omaha, NE.

This conference will locus on scrap tire issues in Nebraska, Kansas, Missouri, Iowa, Colorado, South Dakota South Dakota (dəkō`tə), state in the N central United States. It is bordered by North Dakota (N), Minnesota and Iowa (E), Nebraska (S), and Wyoming and Montana (W). , Oklahoma, Illinois, Arkansas and Minnesota.

Presentations on the participating states' regulatory and legislative programs will be featured, as well as the major markets for scrap tires, including rubber modified asphalt, civil engineering, coarse rubber and tire-derived fuel. Other expected topics will include tire baling, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's Resource Conservation Challenge and best practices on stockpile abatement.

The Heartlands Regional Scrap Tire Conference will be one of a series of educational programs hosted by the RMA (RealMedia Architecture) See RealMedia. . In 2004, the RMA will also cosponsor co·spon·sor

 State/Northeast Regional Scrap Tire Conference in conjunction with the Environmental Business Association of New York and the Environmental Advocates, June 15-16 in Albany, NY; Scrap Tire Track at the Air & Waste Management Annual Conference in Indianapolis, IN, June 23; the 2004 Biannual Rubber Conference co-hosted by the Rubber Association of Canada and the RMA, in Banff, Alberta Banff is the largest town in Banff National Park, located in Alberta's Rockies, Canada. At  m ( ft), it is the town with the highest elevation in Canada, situated above Bow Falls near the junction of the Bow and Spray Rivers. , Canada, in September; a symposium on "Advanced ground rubber technologies," at the Rubber Division, ACS (Asynchronous Communications Server) See network access server. , fall meeting in Columbus, OH, in October; and an educational training seminar on civil engineering applications, asphalt rubber and tire derived fueld, in conjunction with the Tennessee Department of Environmental Conservation, to be held this year in Nashville, TN.
