Jeff Williams (born June 6, 1972 in Canberra) is an Australian-born, left-handed pitcher for the Hanshin Tigers baseball team.
has been outspoken in his displeasure for his team's No. 4 seeding in the Southern Section Div. III playoffs, two spots below Dominguez of Compton, a team they beat by 29 points in Week 4.

Now he has found an unlikely ally in top-seeded Notre Dame Notre Dame IPA: [nɔtʁ dam] is French for Our Lady, referring to the Virgin Mary. ``I can understand why Coach Williams is upset,'' Rooney said. ``They do these coaches polls all year long but in the past, at the end they kind of fix things when something is obviously out of whack whack

. ... So I kind of thought Palmdale would end up with the No. 2 seed because head-to-head competition is the best measure.''

Rooney said he has been voting for Palmdale as the No. 2 team in the division on his ballot ever since the Falcons came close to upsetting his team, which won 17-15 in Week 3.

Of course Rooney's concern isn't wholly altruistic al·tru·ism

If the seeding holds, Notre Dame would have to play Palmdale in the semifinals instead of in the championship game, if they were a No. 2 or No. 3 seed.

``We'd rather not play those guys until we have to,'' he said. ``We've played them, so we know how good they are.''

--The bright side: One advantage to a possible semifinal matchup with Notre Dame is the possibility it would be at Palmdale.

``That would be great if we could play them up here,'' Palmdale defensive back Victor Cooper said.

That scenario hinges on coin flips and the results of the Muir of Pasadena-Mira Costa of Manhattan Beach Manhattan Beach, city (1990 pop. 32,063), Los Angeles co., S Calif., on Santa Monica Bay; inc. 1912. In the first round of the playoffs, host teams are determined by the Southern Section commissioner. After the first round, the team with the fewest number of host games in the playoff competition will be the host. , a coin toss will settle it.

For example, Notre Dame, Palmdale, Muir and Redondo all are at home this week. If each team wins, a coin flip will determine where Notre Dame and Muir would play, as well as Palmdale-Redondo. However, if either Mira Costa or Paramount wins, the game would be at one of those schools, since they were on the road in the opening round.

For Palmdale, the best scenario would be to have a road game in the second round and have Notre Dame get two home games. The semifinals would be Dec. 4.

This affluent bedroom community is known for its dramatic views, good schools [1] extensive horse trails [2] .

However some have questioned Peninsula's strength of schedule. Only three of the Panthers 10 opponents this year finished with winning records. The combined record of Peninsula's opponents this season was 40-59-1. The combined record of Peninsula's non-league opponents was 17-33.

In contrast, five of Antelope Valley's 10 opponents had winning records and seven had records of .500 or better. The record of Antelope Valley's five non-league opponents was 31-18-1.
