But sources familiar with the meeting in Riordan's eighth-floor office said the mayor and his top aides confronted Fujioka and requested that he provide information to the Mayor's Office before releasing it to the City Council. Fujioka was said to have told the mayor he was following the regulations of both the existing charter and new one that will take effect July 1 - directing him to report to both the mayor and City Council. Riordan cannot directly dismiss Fujioka until the new charter takes effect.
