PALMDALE - Local hotels, organizations and restaurants are offering New Year's activities.

Among the events:

--Elegant Affairs, 42525 10th St. East, Lancaster, will host a New Year's Eve party beginning at 7 p.m. Tickets are $75 per person and include appetizers, dinner, dessert, two drink tickets, prizes, dancing, party favors and a champagne toast. Reservations are required due to limited seating. Call (661) 951-2261.

Desert Inn, 44219 Sierra Highway Sierra Highway is a road in Southern California, United States. It runs from Tunnel Station near the north limit of the City of Los Angeles, where it intersects with San Fernando Road and Foothill Boulevard, as well as Interstate 5, and continues north to Mojave, mostly paralleling , will host Mardi Gras Mardi Gras (mär`dē grä), last day before the fasting season of Lent. It is the French name for Shrove Tuesday. Literally translated, the term means "fat Tuesday" and was so called because it represented the last opportunity for  New Year's Eve at Club D.I. Dinner reservations are still available for 9:30 and 10 p.m. Cost is $130 per couple and includes a hotel room, prime rib buffet A buffet is a meal serving system where patrons serve themselves. It is a popular method of feeding large numbers of people with minimal staff. The term is also used to describe a sideboard, an antique form of furniture which was sometimes used to offer the dishes of a buffet meal , dancing, champagne toast, party favors and breakfast the next day.

Cost is $90 without the hotel room.

--Cascades restaurant will serve no-host cocktails at 6 p.m. followed by a four-course dinner at 7 p.m. Dance music will be provided by Bump City until 12:30 a.m. A Times Square champagne toast will be held at 9 p.m. Cost is $99 and prepaid pre·pay

 Inn Inc. and Conference Center, 44055 Sierra Highway, Lancaster, will host a New Year's Day New Year's Day, among ancient peoples the first day of the year frequently corresponded to the vernal or autumnal equinox, or to the summer or winter solstice. In the Middle Ages it was celebrated among Christians usually on Mar. 25.  Champagne Buffet from 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.. The buffet is $17.95 for adults, $13.95 for seniors, $7.95 for children under 12 and children under 5 are free.

A sleeping room and buffet for two adults is $85 plus tax and $100 plus tax for two adults and two children.

--The Owl's Hoot steakhouse and nightclub, located at Avenue J and 90th Street West, will host a New Year's Eve party from 4 p.m. to 1 a.m. with all you can eat and drink for under $25.

--Schooners, 43807 15th St. West, Lancaster, will start its New Year's Eve party at 7 p.m. The package includes a room for two at the Oxford Inn, shuttle ride to and from the party, two party passes, all night buffet, champagne toast, dancing and breakfast on New Year's Day for $165 per couple.
