RIMAGE ACQUIRES DATAPATH

MINNEAPOLIS, Nov. 2 /PRNewswire/ -- Rimage corporation (NASDAQ-NMS: RIMG) announced its acquisition of the ongoing business of Datapath Technologies, Inc., Fremont, Calif. Rimage is a world-wide leader in diskette duplication equipment and systems with 1992 revenues of $13.3 million; Datapath also sells diskette duplication equipment and had 1992 revenues of $1.7 million.
According to Rimage's vice president of sales and marketing, Ron Potas, "We expect to increase the quality and array of products which Datapath can sell through its existing sales channel. Datapath uses direct advertising and tele-sales to reach the markets which do not copy large numbers of diskettes. This new sales channel is a complementary addition to our direct and dealer sales channels."
The terms involve a short-term royalty payment by Rimage based upon the ongoing success of Datapath sales. Rimage will continue to support the operations under the Datapath/Rimage name. All new sales will be credited toward Rimage operational profitability.
Rimage Corporation trades on the NASDAQ National Market System under the acronym RIMG. Rimage had a secondary offering on July 20, 1993.
