There was only a little additional news in this category beyond what was reported in our show preview. Common themes appeared to be compact, unitized design on a single base, modularity, simplicity, ease of access--and reduced cost.

In addition to its redesigned U.S.-built Puromat high-pressure metering systems, which embody many of the above principles (see PT, May '91, p. 102), Elastogran Machinery (EMB), Wyandotte, Mich., introduced a number of high-pressure mixheads at the show. One is the MKE series, first shown at K'89 in Dusseldorf and only now available here. These heads are said to be simpler, more compact, and lighter than previous models. They offer a new extended warranty for processing unfilled materials: 250,000 shots or one year, whichever comes sooner. These come with control piston diam. of 10, 14 and 20 mm to cover a range of output requirements.

Besides straight-impingement types (including short-chamber models especially for adhesive systems), Elastogran offers "B" versions with T-impingement. The latter, designed to provide smooth pours without splashing, come in new 10- and 14-mm sizes in addition to the previous 20-mm.

Compact design, with all components mounted on a single base for easy transportation--and with easy access--also characterizes the brandnew UniRIM A series high-pressure metering machines from Klockner Ferromatik Desma (now KFD Sales & Service, Inc.), Erlanger, Ky. Use of standardized, modular components reportedly has helped reduce the price by about 30% and permits easy upgrading in the field. Models range in output capacity from 3.1 to 310 lb/min. They have axial piston pumps and easy-to-use Siemens controls.

Decker Industries, Port Salerno, Fla., used NPE '91 to introduce its first series of high-pressure, impinge-mix polyurethane processors. The three machines in the DH series, of which the DH80, a 40-80 lb/min machine, was displayed at NPE, are designed to meter, mix and dispense two-component flexible or rigid polyurethane foams for molding or core filling applications. The units' hydraulically operated, mechanically purged mix heads have adjustable orifices for precise impingement and recirculating pressure control, Decker says. Besides the DH80, the new line includes the DH20 (10-20 lb/min) and the DH40 (20-40 lb/min). While declining to give exact prices, a Decker spokesman said the DH80 is the lowest-priced 80 lb/min closed-loop flow-control machine available.
