Potting soil, flowers and bushes will make it something special. Residents in Valley Glen have been fighting to create a community separate from Van Nuys for years. David Poster, who has lived in the area for 20 years, said the five-block-long median has been ``alternately maintained and orphaned'' over the years. Early Saturday it had a few trees and bushes, but mostly long stretches of weedy untended dirt. Poster said the new neighborhood means residents will have a better chance of keeping it looking nice for decades in a row. ``We've been building up momentum by getting better acquainted,'' he said. ``This wouldn't have happened five or 10 years ago.''
