``We will literally have 150 kids in band costumes on stage,'' said Todd Cherland, principal of Ana Verde. ``It should be awesome. We have professional sets and really professional actors. A lot of our kids get to work in Hollywood now and they come here for that reason.''

There are 250 students in all grade levels on Ana Verde's performing arts track. This is the third major production in as many years for the school. Previous shows were the ``Wizard of Oz'' and ``Annie.''

Cherland remarked that he has seen dramatic changes in students' behavior and academics after they became involved with the performing arts program.

``They just have a much greater presence,'' Cherland said. ``I have seen kids who have not been real strong academically just blossom because they have found something that they can do well and they love it. They truly do.''

A special show for other Ana Verde students will be held this morning.

Tickets for the public shows at 7 p.m. tonight and Thursday are $12 for adults and $8 for children age 5 and younger.
