RIGHT FROM THE HART; INDIANS' WEEK EMOTION FILLED.

Byline: Scott Magoloff Daily News Staff Writer

What a whirlwind whirlwind, revolving mass of air resulting from local atmospheric instability, such as that caused by intense heating of the ground by the sun on a hot summer day.  last week it was for the Hart High baseball team. Especially the seniors.

They went from winning the Southern Section Division II championship at Edison Field on June 5 to the 23rd annual Bernie Milligan Daily News All-Star Game An all-star game is an exhibition game played by the best players in their sports league. The players are often chosen by a popular vote of fans of the sport and the game often occurs at the halfway point of the regular season, although this is not the case for some all-star games  on Saturday to Sunday's team banquet.

Each was an emotional experience for its own reasons:

The team sent retired coach Bud Murray off with his first section title in his final game after 23 years at Hart with its 10-9 win over Righetti. In the Bernie Milligan game, Justin Wiley threw a perfect inning in·ning

``It was really exciting; I wanted to be relaxed because I knew there were scouts there,'' LeMar said of his double. ``I thought it was great playing there and seeing how the different high schools are. It was a lot of fun. I really enjoyed being there.''

Perhaps Sunday's team banquet, fittingly one final chance to share their special season, was the most touching of the Indians' postseason celebrations. It was held in the Hart High auditorium and was complete with catering, a slide show that chronicled the entire season, and a retirement ceremony for Murray.

All of the seniors on the team had a plaque made for Murray, which displayed a picture of the 63-year-old coach taken while he stood peacefully during the national anthem at one of Hart's games this year. Also, the assistant coaches retired his number.

During the ceremony, each of the Indians seniors spoke about Murray.

``I said he was a great coach and a great guy and baseball wouldn't be the same without him,'' Wiley said. ``He made it fun and exciting. He also gets you ready for the future; he teaches baseball, but he teaches more about life.

``It was real good. There was a lot of laughter, a lot of tears; definitely a great way to go out.''

Prepare for launch: Canyon High's Mike Suarez belted a two-run homer to center field for the East team at the Bernie Milligan game. It capped off a senior year in which his baseball skills took off and will carry over into his freshman year at College of the Canyons College of the Canyons is one of the fastest-growing community colleges in the state. According to the National Junior College Research Association, College of the Canyons consistently ranks in the top 50 community colleges in the nation. .

``This game was the most fun I've ever played in,'' he said. ``I had a blast. The home run derby This is about the Major League Baseball contest. For the 1959 television show of the same name, see Home Run Derby (TV series).

Suarez didn't fare well in the home run derby, as he failed to put one out.

``I was happy I could come through and do something in the game,'' he said.

Either way, the homer in the game completed a senior year in which Suarez (.364 average, .844 slugging percentage In baseball statistics, slugging percentage (abbreviated SLG) is the most popular measure of the power of a hitter. It is calculated as total bases divided by at bats: , 10 homers, 38 RBI) proved he could put up big numbers when given the opportunity. He did not play much as a junior last year.

``When I go up I have to be relaxed and do my job,'' Suarez said up his upcoming career at COC See chip on chip. . ``I think I can have the same type of year as this year. Now that I've done it, I know I can do it (again).''

Nice finish: Saugus' Justin Babin made the most of his opportunity to leave prep baseball on a high note. After suffering through a horrendous hor·ren·dous

second half of the season for the Centurions, Babin set down three all-stars in order in his one inning of work and he also went 1 for 1 with a single.

``I ended my prep career with a hit, pitched a perfect inning, got to play with my friends,'' he said. ``It was very fun and relaxed, just a setting where you can basically have fun and play with other players from other schools and showcase your talent.''

Babin will attend San Diego San Diego (săn dēā`gō), city (1990 pop. 1,110,549), seat of San Diego co., S Calif., on San Diego Bay; inc. 1850. San Diego includes the unincorporated communities of La Jolla and Spring Valley. Coronado is across the bay.  Mesa Junior College in the fall.

Also perfect: In addition to Babin's feat for the East team, Wiley also was perfect in his one inning of work in the Bernie Milligan game.

``I wasn't so much nervous,'' Wiley said. ``Ivan Hernandez struck out the side the inning before me so I figured I had to do something good. I just went in there to throw strikes and get three outs.''
