RIFLE SCARE AT SCHOOL LEADS TO FOUR ARRESTS.

Two men and two boys have been arrested after one of the teens reportedly pointed an unloaded rifle and pulled the trigger at an elementary school elementary school: see school.  just before classes were dismissed, Los Angeles Los Angeles (lôs ăn`jələs, lŏs, ăn`jəlēz'), city (1990 pop. 3,485,398), seat of Los Angeles co., S Calif.; inc. 1850.  County sheriff's deputies said Thursday.

He said a 15-year-old Castaic boy pointed the rifle from a parked car.

``He started playing with the gun and pointing it throughout the neighborhood. School officials were very concerned and very scared,'' Howard said.

Deputies arrested Travis Desmond, 18, of Canyon Country on suspicion of possessing a firearm near an occupied elementary school and possessing stolen property. Also arrested were the 15-year-old boy suspected of pointing the rifle and a 17-year-old boy from Valencia who reportedly stole the rifle from his stepfather.

Newhall pawnshop worker Roger Vernon, 50, was arrested on suspicion of illegally buying the rifle after the incident. The rifle had been reported stolen, deputies said.

The 17-year-old, already on probation for burglary, was charged with grand theft, officials said.
