RHINO ENVISIONS FUTURE WITH FORWARD LABEL

 New Label Devoted to Established Contemporary Artists;
 Roster Includes Beausoliel, NRBQ, Todd Rundgren
 SANTA MONICA, Calif., March 19 /PRNewswire/ -- Rhino Records, the industry's premier archival label, has established a new label for contemporary artists -- FORWARD, it was announced today by Rhino Vice President/Marketing Chris Tobey and Vice President/A&R Gary Stewart.
 FORWARD is designed to nurture and advance the careers of established artists by providing them a supportive environment in which they're encouraged to create the music they want to make.
 While FORWARD shares Rhino's operating philosophies and total commitment to quality (from material, performance, and sound reproduction to annotation, graphics and packaging), the new label is much more than an extension of Rhino's successful product lines. A major new effort on Rhino's part, FORWARD is a truly independent idea with a different vision: helping artists who are producing important new music to reach and expand their true audiences.
 The new label's premiere release will be "La Danse De La Vie," a new studio album due April 20, from Beausoleil, the popular Grammy- nominated Cajun band whose last album, "Cajun Conja," was released by Rhino in 1991.
 Also signed to FORWARD are popular rock 'n' roll band NRBQ, whose label debut is due in autumn 1993; and musician/performer/producer/ video pioneer/computer software developer Todd Rundgren, whose first FORWARD project is set for summer '93 release (details to be announced soon in a separate press release).
 "With FORWARD, we want to utilize our hard-won marketing skills to help expose important new music," says Tobey. "Rhino is a marketing-driven company, and our expertise lies in reaching music consumers age 25-plus. Therefore, we want to sign contemporary artists who appeal to those consumers we already know how to serve."
 Comments Stewart: "Many artists in their second or third decade of creativity are still making challenging and relevant music that doesn't necessarily fit into the gold-platinum sales class that is promoted in most corners of our industry. These artists do, however, have a substantial base and deserve wider, more effective distribution of their music."
 "In addition to offering a progressive perspective for artists and their managers, FORWARD is an aggressive departure from `business as usual,'" Tobey continues. "Like Rhino's, FORWARD's vision encompasses all aspects of our business -- including our relationships with the industry, our customers, our community and our environment.
 "All other things being equal," he adds, "we feel that there will be many artists who will be more comfortable working with FORWARD because of our emphasis on the way we do business."
 Like Rhino, FORWARD is distributed by Atlantic Records, which in turn is distributed by WEA.
 Atlantic Co-Chairman and Co-Chief Executive Officer Doug Morris stated: "We are very proud to have Rhino, the company which has set the standard for high-quality compilations, as a member of The Atlantic Group. With FORWARD, Rhino is branching out into untapped territory with a new label that is sure to further burnish their reputation. FORWARD will occupy a unique niche in our industry, and I am very happy to have the opportunity to enter into this exciting new venture with our friends at Rhino."
