DoD announced a phased RFID compliance mandate to the Pentagon's 46,000 suppliers requiring Radio Frequency Identification See RFID.  (RFID) tags to be embedded in individual products or product cases and pallets consumed by DoD. Similarly, in 2005, Wal-Mart reported doing business with over 68,000 suppliers worldwide, all of which are required to comply with radio frequency identification (RFID) requirements set forth by the retail giant.
