:RFIL) Wednesday announced that it has received initial orders, valued at more than $200,000, from three separate customers for its wireless digital data radio modems.

``We believe that these new applications have the potential to become significant markets for our telemetry telemetry

The first contract, an initial order for 167 of RFI's new surface-mount VHF (Very High Frequency) The range of electromagnetic frequencies from 30 MHz to 300 MHz.  transceivers, was received from Loral Defense Systems-East. Catledge noted that RFI's transceivers will be used in target systems to provide safe and effective remote wireless scoring systems for live weapons training.

``This first-phase order represents a new niche application for RF Neulink products, further enhancing our position in the wireless communications wireless communications

 market,'' he said.

Catledge said that the second contract, for security systems, is based on MAVRIC MAVRIC Monaco with Automated Variance Reduction Using Importance Calculations  2000 wireless network controllers and NEULINK 9600 digital data radio modems to provide a wireless security and alarm system for the U.S. Air Force. He noted that RFI will also provide ancillary equipment for this project, including transmission lines and antennas.

The third contract award, received from Westminster, Colo.-based Master Tek International, will use 250 NEULINK 9600 high-speed digital modems for wireless remote utility meter A utility meter is any of the following metering devices used on utility mains:

monitoring and load control at large industrial and commercial complexes.

``Including a $400,000 contract received last September for a unique global positioning satellite (GPS) application, total calendar 1995 orders for RF Neulink Telemetry products exceed $780,000, compared to calendar 1994 orders of only $225,000,'' said Catledge.

Catledge noted that RFI's recently introduced NEULINK 9600 digital transceivers are more reliable and robust than competitive products and incorporate an advanced communications protocol which greatly enhances digital data radio performance.

``We are excited about the continuing strong market acceptance of our new products and believe that the wide range of potential applications for the NEULINK 9600 will position RF Industries as a strong competitor in the wireless communications marketplace,'' he said.

RF Industries is a San Diego-based manufacturer and distributor of wireless data communications products and specialized RF connectors.
