The reward for information leading to the capture and conviction of a serial rapist has topped out at $15,200, an amount that officials hope will help entice someone to come forward.

Within days of the city of Simi Valley's decision to offer a $5,000 reward for information leading to the man's arrest, residents, service groups and businesses added thousands more to the pot.

By this week, the figure reached $14,200, plus an amount up to $1,000 that is automatically offered by Crime Stoppers. Anonymous tips may be made to the Crime Stoppers hotline at [phone].

City officials said they have put a cap on the reward and are no longer seeking donations because they do not want people waiting for the reward to grow more before coming forward.

The assailant, who has attacked at least nine women in the last few years, is described as white, in his mid-20s, with dark hair, and standing 5 feet 8 inches tall and weighing 180 pounds.
