REVIEW: INSPIRED BY TV'S COMEDY GREATS, `THAT'S LIFE' DOESN'T MEASURE UP.

Byline: Keith Marder Daily News Television Writer

``That's Life,'' a sitcom that debuts on KABC KABC Kaufman Assessment Battery for Children  (Channel 7) at 9:30 tonight, is a mix of many familiar series.

It's part ``Roseanne'' - no surprise, since its executive producers, Eric Gilliland and Sid Youngers, came from that show. It's part ``Married .. With Children,'' part ``All in the Family'' and part ``The Honeymooners.''

The problem is they only took the bad parts.

The show is built around Mike, the loud, abrasive, cartoon-watching head of the house who gets a big promotion to head meat guy at the supermarket. His financial windfall allows him to redo To reverse an undo operation. See undo.  his upstairs Queens apartment into Guy Town. But his plans are foiled when his sister-in-law, with whom there is mutual loathing, is forced to move into the upstairs flat.

One of the most popular stars of early television, Gleason was respected for both comedic and dramatic roles.
. The problem is Gleason was a genius. Wilson is, well, likable.

Wilson is too weak to play the macho role for which he has been cast. His voice is too high, and he's too roly-poly. He's more the guy the neighborhood tough guys smacked around than the actual tough guy.

The whole setup is unbelievable, and character reactions are far from organic.

But you don't have to worry. This series should have a short, yet painful life.
