 REVCO BOARD APPOINTS HOVEN PRESIDENT,
 CHIEF OPERATING OFFICER
TWINSBURG, Ohio, July 24 /PRNewswire/ -- The board of directors of Revco D.S., Inc., (NYSE: RXR) announced today that it has concluded the search for a top executive of the drug store chain by naming D. Dwayne Hoven, formerly executive vice president of marketing and stores, as president and chief operating officer. Hoven, who will become a director, will report directly to the board.
In a joint statement made on behalf of the board, directors Talton Embry and Sam Zell said, "Dwayne Hoven has shown himself to be an exceptional leader. In addition to his people skills, he has a breadth of knowledge and experience, having directed store operations, distribution, warehousing and marketing. It's because of our confidence in his strong abilities that the Board has entrusted him with the leadership of Revco."
Hoven, 50, has been a member of the executive committee of Revco since joining the company in 1987. He has overseen all of Revco's marketing and merchandising activities and all aspects of store and pharmacy operations and loss prevention for Revco's 1,143 drug stores, as executive vice president of stores and executive vice president, marketing and stores.
Hoven came to Revco from Davis-Dyar Supply Co., where he was president and owner. Before that he was executive vice president of operations for T.G.&Y. Stores, and executive vice president and chief operating officer of Sav-A-Stop Inc. Hoven, who began his career as an industrial engineer for Newport News Ship Building, holds a bachelor of science degree in Industrial Management from Auburn University. He and his family reside in Hudson, Ohio.
The other three members of Revco's executive committee -- Gregory K. Raven, Thomas E. Robinson and Jack A. Staph -- will report to Hoven.
