 REUTERS BUYS STAKE IN FRENCH SOFTWARE HOUSE
 LONDON, June 2 PRNewswire/ -- Reuters has taken a 35 percent capital


stake in the French software house Effix Systemes SA, a major supplier of software in the Reuter product line for dealing room information management.
 Reuters and Effix also signed a cooperation agreement covering current and future products.
 Reuters is the worldwide distributor of a range of Effix's products, including the Advanced Trader Workstation (ATW). This is the top-of- the-range workstation offered on Reuters Triarch 2000 digital trading room architecture. The ATW provides a powerful array of tools for information display and analysis.
 Triarch 2000 is an open platform allowing dealers real-time access to multiple applications and external sources of information as well as to data from in-house computers. It is in use in some 150 banks and financial institutions worldwide.
 Christian Nicaud, chief executive of Effix Systemes, said: "Through this capital stake, I see the natural evolution of a successful relationship which has existed since 1988. We need now to strengthen the foundations of our partnership in order to introduce a more strategic and long-term dimension. This will allow us to enlarge the scope of our business in terms of product and marketing."
 And Peter Job, chief executive of Reuters, commented: "We are strengthening our association with Effix because it has proved an innovative and reliable developer with whom we are to cooperate long- term."
 The majority shareholder in Effix Systemes SA is the Paris-based Banque de Gestion et de Tresorerie (BIGT).
 Reuters Holdings PLC (NASDAQ: RTRSY) provides a wide range of products and services for the delivery of financial information into open computer systems and networks through its Information Management Systems Group. This group is responsible for the marketing and development of Reuters open terminal, system and datafeed products.
