The saga of Ricks Natural Star - a dark comedy - apparently is over.

The cheap horse who gained notoriety when he was entered in the Breeders' Cup Turf The Breeders' Cup Turf is a Weight for Age Thoroughbred horse race on turf for three-year-olds and up. It is held annually at a different racetrack in the United States or Canada as part of the Breeders' Cup. The race's current title sponsor is John Deere.  last year was claimed out of a $7,500 race at Turf Paradise in Phoenix on Sunday. The new owner, Larry Weber, said he ``plans to retire the horse,'' and would issue a prepared statement today.

Ricks Natural Star, who was owned by William Livingston William Livingston (November 30, 1723 – July 25, 1790) served as the Governor of New Jersey (1776–1790) during the American Revolution and was a signer of the United States Constitution.

Livingston was the son of Philip Livingston and was born in Albany.
