RETIRED SURGEON FOUND DEAD A.V. RESIDENT OF 30 YEARS DISCOVERED SHOT AT RANCH.

Kadivar joined the Antelope Valley Hospital medical staff in 1976 and retired in 2003 to be a full-time rancher. Kadivar had owned the 160-acre ranch for at least 10 years.

``He grew up on a farm in Iran and that's what he loved,'' said Manning, who knew Kadivar for 25 years. They would take care of each other's patients while the other was off on vacation, Manning said.

Also in the Antelope Valley, homicide detectives were investigating a second death, that of a man found earlier Wednesday at an apartment building in downtown Palmdale.

A 53-year-old man, whose name was not immediately released, was found just after 3 p.m. at an apartment building in the 900 block of East Avenue Q. Officials did not disclose how he died.
