The Keppel board interviewed the three candidates and made the appointment at a special meeting Thursday. Magana will be sworn in at a board meeting next week.

``Mr. Magana has been very active in the community and he's served on a lot of district committees and been very involved in the district for a number of years, and I personally thought he's made a lot of contributions to the community and was a good candidate for the board,'' Dutton said.
