Mighty Ducks is a half-hour Disney animated series aired on ABC and The Disney Afternoon in the fall of 1996. Twenty-six episodes total were produced.

, whose last appearance was Nov. 27 at Nashville and was winless in three games this season, had every excuse to look rusty.

He didn't need any.

Roussel stopped 45 shots for his first victory in more than two years and Jeff Nielsen Jeff Nielsen (Born September 20, 1971 in Grand Rapids, Minnesota) is a retired American ice hockey player who played in the NHL with the New York Rangers, Anaheim Mighty Ducks, and Minnesota Wild. He played right wing and shot right handed.  scored his first goal of the season as the Ducks beat the Colorado Avalanche The Colorado Avalanche are a professional ice hockey team based in Denver, Colorado, United States. They are members of the Northwest Division of the Western Conference of the National Hockey League (NHL). The Avalanche have won the Stanley Cup twice, in 1996 and 2001.  1-0 Tuesday night.

``There were times over the last few years when I never thought I'd win again,'' Roussel said. ``I had to spend a lot of practice time on the ice and watching video to maintain focus and tonight it paid off.''

Roussel, who last won on March 22, 1996 in a 4-1 victory over Winnipeg, outdueled Colorado goalie Patrick Roy Patrick Jacques Roy (IPA pronunciation: [ʁwa]), (born October 5, 1965, in Sainte Foy, Quebec, Canada — a suburb of Quebec City) is a retired ice hockey goaltender. , who made 20 saves but had a hand in Nielsen's goal.

``Guy Hebert Guy Andre Hebert (born January 7, 1967 in Troy, New York) is a former professional ice hockey goaltender. Always a proud American, he used the French pronunciation of his first and last names because it "sounded better." He played for the St.  has been so good that we never really gave Dominic a chance to play,'' Anaheim coach Craig Hartsburg Craig Hartsburg (born June 29, 1959 in Stratford, Ontario, Canada) is a retired professional ice hockey defenceman who played ten seasons with the Minnesota North Stars of the National Hockey League from 1979-80 until 1988-89.  said. ``We wanted to give him a game that was a big game for our team and he was excellent.''

Roy sent a blind cross-ice clearing pass right onto Nielsen's stick at the upper right circle. And Nielsen sent a wrist shot wrist shot

into the net at 5:10 of the second period before Roy got back into position.

``Teddy Drury was going down to put some pressure on Roy,'' Nielsen said. ``I think Roy thought he had an open side of the ice. He spun around without taking a look and I happened to be right there.''

Nielsen's first goal since April 19, 1998 was the first Roy and the Avalanche have allowed in 189:40 at home. Detroit's Steve Yzerman scored 30 seconds into the second period on Dec. 2 before Roy blanked St. Louis twice.

``I tried to put the puck in play and shouldn't have done it,'' Roy said. ``I felt good about the play until I saw Nielsen standing in our zone.''

Roussel (1-3-1) recorded his first shutout since Oct. 14, 1995, when he was a member of the Philadelphia Flyers.

``I rate this game on the same level as when we beat Detroit,'' Colorado coach Bob Hartley said. ``This was a matter of Roussel being outstanding. He stole the two points away from us.''

Colorado had the best of the scoring chances in a scoreless first period. Adam Deadmarsh hit the right post with the Ducks on the power play and Chris Drury hit the crossbar from the right post. Outshot 10-7, Anaheim failed on its two power-play opportunities that produced a shot on each.

Nielsen gave Anaheim a 1-0 lead in the second, a period dominated by the Avalanche. Roussel stood up to a flurry of shots in the first two minutes, stopping Deadmarsh from point-blank range and a three-shot mid-period barrage.

Roussel withstood several flurries in the third period, stopping 19 shots including Peter Forsberg twice with spectacular saves and Claude Lemieux with pad saves in the last minute with six skaters on the ice. Colorado failed to convert two power plays in the last six minutes.

``I looked at the clock a couple of times and tried not to be scared how much time was left,'' Roussel said. ``I knew they would come at us at the end with six skaters with a lot of skills.''
