RESTAURANT WORKERS CAN EARN CREDIT.Byline: Daily News College of the Canyons College of the Canyons is one of the fastest-growing community colleges in the state. According to the National Junior College Research Association, College of the Canyons consistently ranks in the top 50 community colleges in the nation. will offer a one-day course for food handlers handlers persons involved in the handling of, for example, circus animals. Includes grooms, milkers, herdsmen, strappers. Used mostly in referring to persons handling animals for show or auction. to gain certification and help their employers comply with a new law. Under the law that will take effect next year, a certified food handler must be on duty throughout operating hours of a restaurant or other food business. The eight-hour course will be offered four times: Aug. 22, Sept. 12, Oct. 24 and Dec. 5. The course will provide seven hours of training for the certification exam, which will be given during the last hour of the class. A food handler who completes the course will get one-half unit of college credit as well as a certificate. Classes will be taught Saturdays by Bill Momary, owner of MDM (Modular Digital Multitrack) An audio recorder that mixes and records multiple tracks of digital audio.
