It is used as laundry starch, in sizing paper, in making adhesives, and in cooking. 1/2 cup seedless raspberry jam 2 cups flour 3/4 cup sugar 3/4 cup (1 1/2 sticks) butter, cut into pieces 5 tablespoons whipping cream 2 teaspoons vanilla 3/4 cup shredded coconut 3/4 cup walnut piecesDrain juice from raspberries into a small saucepan; reserve raspberries. Whisk cornstarch into juice in pan. Heat to boiling over medium heat, whisking constantly. Boil 1 minute, whisking constantly until clear and thickened thick·en tr. & intr.v. thick·ened, thick·en·ing, thick·ens 1. To make or become thick or thicker: Thicken the sauce with cornstarch. BANANA SPLIT CHEESECAKE 2 cups chocolate cookie crumbs 5 tablespoons butter, melted 4 packages (8 ounces EACH) cream cheese, softened 1 1/4 cups sugar 3 eggs 1 1/2 cups mashed bananas (3 medium bananas) 1/4 cup whipping cream 1 teaspoon vanilla 1/4 cup banana flavored liqueur Chocolate Ganache Combine cookie crumbs and melted butter and press into bottom and part way up sides of a 9-inch springform pan. Bake in preheated 400-degree oven 6 minutes. In a large bowl of an electric mixer, beat cream cheese with sugar, eggs, mashed bananas, cream, vanilla and banana liqueur until smooth. Turn into crumb-lined pan. Bake in preheated 400-degree oven 15 minutes. Reduce oven temperature to 325 degrees F and bake 60 to 65 minutes or until almost set. HOLIDAY EGGNOG CAKE 1 package (18.25 ounces) white cake mix (NOT pudding included) 2 cups whipping cream 2 cups eggnog 3/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg 2 packages (3.4 ounces EACH) INSTANT vanilla flavor pudding and pie filling mix 1/4 cup semisweet chocolate chips, melted (optional) Prepare cake mix according to package directions. Turn into 3 greased and floured 9-inch round cake pans. Bake in preheated 350-degree oven 20 to 25 minutes, until golden and cakes test done. Let cool in pans. Meanwhile, in a large bowl, beat cream with an electric mixer on high speed until stiff; set aside. In a medium bowl, combine eggnog, nutmeg and pudding mix. Beat with an electric mixer on low speed until well blended, 1 to 1 1/2 minutes. Fold pudding mixture into whipped cream until no white streaks remain. Use immediately to fill and frost the 3 cake layers. Drizzle top with melted chocolate, if desired, or garnish with red and green candy wreaths. Refrigerate cake until serving time.
