RESPONSE USA, INC. ANNOUNCES SECOND QUARTER AND SIX MONTHS RESULTS

 CAMDEN, N.J., Feb. 10 /PRNewswire/ -- Response USA, Inc. (NASDAQ: RUOK, RUOKU, RUOKW, RUOKZ) today announced operating results for the second quarter ended Dec. 31, 1992.
 Revenues for the second quarter were $1,361,409 as compared to $1,362,925 for the same quarter last year. Net income was $135,431, or 12 cents per share, as compared to $151,868, or 29 cents per share. The net income figure for the second quarter ended Dec. 31, 1992 includes extraordinary income of $117,686 from the gain of forgiveness of debt (net of tax effect) and $17,300, resulting from the tax benefit of an operating loss carry forward, totalling 12 cents per share. The net income figure for the second quarter ended Dec. 31, 1991 includes extraordinary income of $21,000, or 4 cents per share, resulting from the tax benefit of an operating loss carry forward.
 For the six months ended Dec. 31, 1992, revenues were $2,756,220, as compared to $3,240,295, for the first six months of last year. Net income was $256,685, or 30 cents per share, as compared to $395,428, or 76 cents per share. The net income figure for the first six months ended Dec. 31, 1992 includes extraordinary income of $117,686 from the gain on forgiveness of debt (net of tax effect) and $44,700, resulting from the tax benefit of an operating loss carry forward, totalling 19 cents per share. The net income figure for the six months ended Dec. 31, 1991 includes extraordinary income of $70,700, or 14 cents, resulting from the tax benefit of an operating loss carry forward.
 Richard M. Brooks, president of Response USA stated, "The decrease in revenues and income is primarily attributable to the cessation of marketing activities in October 1991 by the company's largest franchisee. Concurrently, the increase is operating expenses is associated with the implementation of new marketing programs. Although our largest franchise accounted for approximately $946,000 is sales during the first six months of fiscal 1991, we have added approximately $665,000 of new business in the first six months of fiscal 1992 enabling us to report comparable revenues for the quarter ended Dec. 31, 1991 and 1992, respectively."
 Brooks added, "We will aggressively continue to implement new marketing programs including: direct mail, telemarketing, infomercials, television advertising, retail distribution as well as continued market testing in a national retail chain. We are very enthusiastic about the strong increase in new business that Response USA, Inc, has experience in the first six months of this year and believe that Response USA, Inc. will remain a leader in the response system/ monitoring market."
 Response USA, Inc. is engaged in selling personal emergency response systems and providing monitoring services to individual consumers and to institutional customers such as hospitals and home health care organizations. The company manufacturers and assembles components of its response and monitoring equipment in Homosassa, Fla. and markets its products directly and through franchisees and a Canadian distributor.
