RESIDENTS TO VOICE OPINION ON NAME OF STREET FOR HEARN.

Because Lakers See Lake poets  broadcaster Chick Hearn and his voice meant so much to Los Angeles Los Angeles (lôs ăn`jələs, lŏs, ăn`jəlēz'), city (1990 pop. 3,485,398), seat of Los Angeles co., S Calif.; inc. 1850.  as a whole, a city official said Tuesday that all residents should have a chance to decide what name to give a street in his honor.

``Chick Hearn was an institution and we want everyone to feel they can play a role in being part of this,'' Councilman Nick Pacheco Lauro "Nick" Pacheco, Jr. is an American attorney, politician, and a member of the Democratic Party. As a result, Pacheco said he will be conducting a survey on his City Hall Web site, www.lacity.org/council/cd14, on what the portion of 11th Street in front of Staples Center should be named.

Among the top proposals so far are Chick Hearn Square and Chick Hearn Way.

``But we are open to almost anything,'' Pacheco said.

The survey will run for one month and the final selection will be made in consultation with the Hearn family, Pacheco said.

The legendary broadcaster died Aug. 5 after suffering head injuries in a fall three days earlier at his Encino home. He was 85.
