Byline: Bhavna Mistry Staff Writer

Flames raced up a Saugus hillside Monday afternoon and threatened more than a dozen homes, but the seven-acre brush fire was controlled before causing any damage.

The 1:15 p.m. fire moved swiftly up the Bouquet Canyon ridge just off Alamogordo Road, coming within feet of many homes and into several back yards in one of the city's older neighborhoods.

``I had my living trust and my photo albums, and that's all I care about,'' said Joyce Layman LAYMAN, eccl. law. One who is not an ecclesiastic nor a clergyman. , 54, who prepared to leave after watching the fire come within feet of her home.
