Sheriff's officials want residents to notify them immediately if a suspicious juvenile knocks on their door and asks for a person who does not live there.

``We're asking them to call right away,'' said Sgt. Paul Kaser, in charge of the Lancaster Burglary burglary, at common law, the breaking and entering of a dwelling house of another at night with the intent to commit a felony, whether the intent is carried out or not.  Detail. ``It's a trend we're seeing.''

Since January, officials estimate that 10 to 20 burglaries have been committed in Lancaster and Quartz quartz, one of the commonest of all rock-forming minerals and one of the most important constituents of the earth's crust. Investigations have shown that in areas where a person has answered a knock from juveniles seeking some unknown person, other residences with no one home have been burglarized, officials said.

Most of the burglaries occur on weekdays during the daytime hours, and they seem to be committed by more than one group of teen-agers.

``We have made some arrests,'' said Kaser. ``It's not all the same juveniles.''

On Monday, a Lancaster woman became the latest victim.

When someone knocked on her door, she looked out the window and saw juveniles who she assumed were selling something. She didn't answer.

A few moments later, she heard her door open. When she went to investigate, she saw a couple of juveniles running out with her purse PURSE. In Turkey the sum of five hundred dollars is called a purse. Merch. Dict. h.t. .

A neighbor chased them and got back the purse, but the burglars escaped.

To avoid becoming a victim, burglary detectives say, residents don't need to open their door to a stranger, but should acknowledge their presence in the home.

To make it easier for detectives to recover stolen property once a burglary occurs, officials advise residents to retain receipts for major purchases, write down serial numbers and descriptions of items and keep the information in a safe place.

``It's our goal to educate the community members of the various methods being used by criminals to victimize others,'' said Detective Kent Kroeger.
