``I was coming out of my house (across Bouquet Canyon Road) to pick up my daughter and this gentleman was punching the window of this van trying to steal it,'' Escott said. ``The driver was smart and he gunned it and got out of there.

``I left my truck and grabbed my gun and chased him. I called 911 and told them what was going on. When I drew down on him, he put his hands up and I was able to apprehend him. I wasn't gonna gon·na

Speaker said that no one in the store recognized the man.
