, Tenn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 2, 1997--Republic Automotive Parts, Inc. (Nasdaq/NM: RAUT) today reported results for the first quarter of 1997.

This amount is calculated by subtracting the following items from gross sales: merchandise returned for credit, allowances for damaged or missing goods, freight
 for the three months ended March 31, 1997 totaled $45.8 million compared with $44.3 million for the first quarter of 1996. Net income for the quarter amounted to $820,000, or $0.23 per share, compared with $814,000, or $0.23 per share, a year ago.
