With a recent report showing that most Moorpark College Moorpark College is a California-state funded community college located on a 134 acre (542,000 m²) property reclining on a hill in Moorpark, a town in Ventura County, California.  students come from the Conejo Valley The Conejo Valley is a region spanning both Southeastern Ventura County and Northwest Los Angeles County in Southern California, United States. Some 4,481 students come from the Conejo Valley, followed by 3,711 from Simi Valley, 1,399 from Moorpark and 953 from Camarillo, a new report shows.

``It shows that we have a huge group of students coming from that area,'' Moorpark College President James Walker said. ``We need to serve their presence in the southeastern areas.''

Last year, college officials announced a partnership with the Conejo Valley Unified School District Conejo Valley Unified School District or CVUSD is a school district in Ventura County. The requirements to graduate are the same but the scheduling is more flexible to allow students to earn their credits  and a satellite college campus.

``We're thrilled with the idea to bring a center to a more convenient location,'' Walker said. ``I think it's going to be wonderful.''

``It's just a partnership that makes sense,'' said Jerry Gross, superintendent for the Conejo Valley Unified School District. ``I think we can build a facility here that would be more cost-effective for us.''

Gross said that the shared facility could save the district $1.5 million.

Moorpark College already has partnership agreements with the school district where they lease out portions of Newbury Park and Thousand Oaks high schools for evening classes.

The Conejo Education Center will be a 45,000-square-foot campus located at the Moorpark Freeway and south of Janss Road. It is expected to be completed by 2003.

Of the expected $15 million cost, the satellite campus is expected to cost $5.2 million to $5.5 million.
