REPORT: ROMAR TALKS TO SAINT LOUIS.

Lorenzo Romar, who just finished his third season as head coach at Pepperdine, reportedly interviewed for the vacant position at Saint Louis University Saint Louis University, mainly at St. Louis, Mo.; Jesuit; coeducational; opened 1818 as an academy, became a college 1820, chartered as a university 1832. Parks College (est. 1927 as Parks College of Aeronautical Technology) in Cahokia, Ill.  on Wednesday.

Romar would be the fourth candidate to interview at SLU SLU Saint Louis University

, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch The St. Louis Post-Dispatch is the only major city-wide newspaper in St. Louis, Missouri. Although written to serve Greater St. Louis, the Post-Dispatch is one of the largest newspapers in the region, and is available and read as far west as Springfield, Missouri. . Illinois State's Kevin Stallings, Appalachian State's Buzz Peterson and Southern Illinois-Carbondale's Bruce Weber, all head coaches, have interviewed for the job.

The Billikens were 15-16 this past season under Charlie Spoonhour, and 8-8 in Conference USA.

On Wednesday, a secretary in the Pepperdine athletic department said Romar is scheduled to be out of his office the rest of this week.

Pepperdine is 42-44 under Romar. The Waves have improved their won-loss record each season, though, from 6-21 to 17-10 to 19-13 and an NIT A measurement of luminance. Romar, 40, was an assistant at UCLA UCLA University of California at Los Angeles

 from 1992-96 prior to coming to Pepperdine. He said in a February interview that he would not actively seek a job elsewhere and a school would have to make first contact for him to be interested.
