Byline: Daily News

NEWHALL - Repertory East Playhouse will open its 2006 season with the comedy ``The Complete Works Of William Shakespeare (Abridged.)''

The work is a fast-paced comedic journey through all 37 of the bard's plays, performed by just three actors. It was written by the show's original performers: Adam Long Adam Long was a founding member of The Reduced Shakespeare Company. From 1987-2003 [1] he co-wrote and performed "The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (abridged)" [2] "The Complete History of America (abridged)" [3] , Daniel Singer Daniel Singer (September 26, 1926 – December 2, 2000) was a socialist writer and journalist. ``Complete Works'' will open Jan. 13 and will be staged at 8 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays and 2 p.m. Sundays until Feb. 18.

In order to facilitate covering all of Shakespeare's plays William Shakespeare's plays have the reputation of being among the greatest in the English language and in Western literature. His plays are traditionally divided into the genres of tragedy, history, and comedy.  in one evening, many comedic devices are used. ``Othello, The Moor of Venice'' is done as a rap song; the histories are performed as a football game, with a crown being the ball in play; and the comedies are lumped together as one play, read and acted out by the three actors.

``This show is an incredible undertaking for the actors,'' said Ovington Michael Owston, the REP's co-producing artistic director. ``And it provides audiences with a humorous look at the works of one of history's most recognized playwrights.
