NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 8, 2004

Namesake of the Florida Marlins The Florida Marlins are a professional baseball team based in Miami Gardens, Florida. Ernest Hemingway's most famous novel, "The Old Man and the Sea," chronicled the epic struggle between an old Cuban fisherman and a very large marlin.

When he lived and wrote in Key West during the 1930s, Hemingway fished extensively for blue marlin. He and friend Joe Russell Joseph Russell is a professional backgammon player from Los Angeles, California.

He is a former World Champion. The backgammon titles he has won include:
