The CMWS Electronic Control Unit (ECU) was shipped on October 1 to the GMAv System Integration Rig in Stanmore, England, for integration and testing. The ECU is the key component of CMWS, processing threat data from the system's four electro-optical sensors on the helicopter. Under its contract with GMAv, Sanders will provide 58 CMWS sets, spares, data and logistics support. The first production unit is scheduled for delivery in December 2000.
The AN/AAR-57 CMWS is now being developed at Sanders as a common system for approximately 25 U.S. Tri-Service aircraft types, including the U.S. Army's AH-64D AH-64D Apache Attack Helicopter, D version, with Longbow radar improvements Longbow longbow
