REPAIR PACT WILL ENABLE ADOBE TO REOPEN.Byline: Terry Kanakri Daily News Staff Writer One of Simi Valley's most cherished historical buildings will soon reopen to the public, thanks to the park district approving a contract to make earthquake repairs, officials said Tuesday. The Simi Adobe/Strathearn Victorian Home has been closed since the Jan. 17, 1994 Northridge Earthquake The Northridge earthquake occurred on January 17, 1994 at 4:31 AM Pacific Standard Time in the city of Los Angeles, California. The earthquake had a "strong" moment magnitude of 6. , when the temblor caused major damage to the structure, including a chimney that crashed through the roof. The repairs had been put on hold because the district didn't have the money.
